Day Three

So we're really hitting the ground running. We're not letting grass grow under our feet. A rolling stone gathers no moss. We're cooking with gas. Ok, well, that last one's no longer true after today.

Yesterday's big activity was tree removal. At least we didn't have to be inside the furnace-less house for that activity. We still need the stumps ground out (after the ground dries a little) before we can do something with the yard, but even having the trees gone has really brightened up the house and area around it. If you remember the movie "The Breakfast Club", it's kinda like when Molly Ringwald pulls the hair out of Ally Sheedy's face.

Today we oversaw the installation of a new gas furnace. We replaced the 22-year-old one and more importantly fixing the exhaust flue to eliminate the risk of a CO buildup inside the house. With that done and the heat finally turned on, it got toasty in a hurry! That 70000-BTU furnace doesn't mess around. Because we're converting the gas appliances in the kitchen to electric, we had the furnace company cap off the extraneous lines. Now there's nothing standing in our way of a completely new kitchen...except for needing the floor, cabinets, counter, and appliances removed.
