With resolution of such pesky details as to who owns the house, we moved straight onto renovations. We spent the past several hours cutting brush away from the house, changing locks, and walking our contractor posse through all the work that we want to do.
The good was having neighbors still smile, wave, and welcome us to the neighborhood despite defacing the previous owner's overbearing botanical work. The bad was having to work in a 47-degree house; our aversion to running the furnace until it and the flue are replaced makes the house just a smidge above an icebox.
But everyone's eager to get started.
